Adobe Certified Expert (ACE) Exam

UPDATE: I PASSED!!!

Today at 3pm (EST) I will be sitting down to take the Adobe Certified Expert (ACE) Exam for Photoshop CS3.

I’ve been studying a lot over the past week and rewatching Friend-of-the-Blog Matt Kloskowski’s ACE Bootcamp class over at Kelby Training to help get into the mindset of the exam. As Matt talks about in the class, you need to know how Adobe wants you to do things, not necessarily the way you know how to do it. So, in some cases, it means re-learning how a particular tool, panel, or function works. It also means spending time on some topics I’ve never had the need to work with before – like 3D – and areas I’m not as familiar with – color management.

Even though I’ve been reviewing the exam guide and Photoshop Help files I’m still pretty nervous. I’ve been working with Photoshop on an almost daily basis for about 6 years and taking in as many tutorials, videos, books, and classes as I can stand (a lot) and afford (not as much), but there is still a part of me that isn’t too sure how I’m going to do. I can figure out how to do just about anything that comes my way, or at least come up with something that will work or find a resource to show me the “right” way. And I’m certainly ahead of the curve with my skills. But is that enough?

Wish me luck!

Good luck, and congratulations! I know how you feel. Been thinking about it myself for a while. I’m not even sure I’m a a point to consider prepping for it. How was Matt K.’s prep course? I spent all my free previews on it. Hence why I am still not sure I am ready…LOL
