Sometimes a digital photo just looks like it’s been doctored. You can see some fringe around the edges of an inserted object. The colors don’t match. Or it’s just an impossible shot.

In a recent Scientific American article and supplement we are walked through digital forensics techniques and how to spot a fake.

Manipulated photos are everywhere. We’re used to it. But sometimes it’s just distracting how bad they can be. If you pay attention to some of these tell-tale signs in your work, you can take your work that much further down the road towards believability.
