5,500 Photographers - 241 Cities - 43 Countries - Participating on August 23

TAMPA, FL – August 14, 2008 – Scott Kelby and the National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP) are pleased to announce that as of today, 5,500 photographers from 241 cities in 43 countries have signed up to participate in Scott Kelby’s first-ever worldwide Photo Walk scheduled for Saturday, August 23. The Photo Walks are organized to celebrate the release of Scott Kelby’s latest book – The Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2 Book for Digital Photographers (an update to his earlier world’s bestselling book on Adobe® Photoshop® Lightroom®).

Registration is free and open to all photographers – amateur to professional – from around the world. Photo Walk groups are limited to 50 participants in each city and advance registration is required. Sponsors of this global landmark event are NAPP, Adobe, Wacom, CDW, Mpix, Peachpit, Epson, Kelby Training, and Photo Walk Pro.

A grand prize, valued at $5000, will be awarded to the single best overall photo of the day taken from all the Photo Walk locations. In addition, the best photo from the day, chosen by each local Photo Walk leader, will receive a copy of Kelby’s Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2 Book for Digital Photographers. Prize details available at http://www.photoshopuser.com/photowalk/prizes.html

Kelby’s Photo Walk is a fun, social photography event where photographers get together for two hours, usually in a metropolitan area or a trendy section of a city, to walk around, shoot photos, and generally have fun with other photographers. Each Photo Walk has a local assigned leader that chooses the route of the walk and the ending place (a local restaurant, pub or café) where participates will look at each other’s photos from the walk and make new photography friends.

Welcome to week #89 of The Photoshop & Photography Blogroll’s P&P Weekly!

Kim and I are now moved into our new apartment in Endicott, NY! There’s still a lot to do as we get settled so I’m deferring The Weekly for another week to a few of my fellow bloggers.

The Binghamton leg of the photowalk is constantly being updated as we get tips about cool and interesting locations to shoot. You can get all of the latest information and signup here for the Binghamton Photowalk.

Click here to become a member of the National Association of Photoshop Professionals.

And as always, take a moment to grab one of the chicklet links to show your support for this blog and, for blogroll members, be sure to pick up your P&P Blogroll Member badge link.

Here’s what’s been happening in The Photoshop & Photography Blogroll, courtesy of our friends Andy Smith, Jason Anderson, and Mike Palmer. Thanks Guys!

Today, Kim and I are moving the bulk of our stuff down to our new apartment. It’s been a long and exhausting process sorting through everything, packing, taking trips down with car loads as we do paperwork. And today’s finally the big day!

And now for the news I spoke about yesterday… I’m still waiting on the official package, but I am on the verge of having a new job! I’m reluctant to say where until it’s final but I had an interview last Friday that went really well and a final interview yesterday morning that went was very fruitful. I think it will be a good fit for us both and I can’t wait to get started!

Everything really is coming together!

Geographic Composition #35: Transition

Welcome to week thirty-five of Geographic Composition! Each week a number of my fellow photobloggers and I will submit an image based on a common theme from our scattered locations around the world. Even though the theme is the same, our own vision and view of the world when coupled with the geographic and cultural environment in which we live will shape the images we create and offer a varied interpretation on the topic of the week.

This week, our theme is “transition.”

Please take a moment to view the participants’ blogs. And, as always be sure to send me new themes and topics in the comments below.

Thanks, and Enjoy!
