Welcome to week #83 of The Photoshop & Photography Blogroll’s P&P Weekly!
Thank you to everyone who offered well-wishes with the news of my impending transitions. I appreciate all of your support and I look forward to this next chapter.
I’ve been a member of the National Association of Photoshop Proffesionals since 2005 and have found it to be a great source of education and inspiration. I know many of you may also be members but for those of you who aren’t I highly recommend it. It’s only $99/year and you can save at least that much with the many discounts offered with your membership. I mention this, first and foremost, because I’m a believer in what they are doing over there and have benefited so much from their services. Secondly, NAPP has just instituted a referral program and I would like to invite you to become a member. I’d be recommending this to you anyway and if you were planning on joining anyway why not do it here. Think about it.
As always, take a moment to grab one of the chicklet links to show your support for this blog and, for blogroll members, be sure to pick up your P&P Blogroll Member badge link.
Finally, here are some of my favorites from what’s been happening in The Photoshop & Photography Blogroll:
Please be sure to visit the great blogs of our other members found in the sidebar. And if you would like to be considered for The Photoshop & Photography Blogroll, email Jason.

Thanks to Scott, Dave, and Matt over at Photoshop User TV for mentioning me on the show again this week and for all of the kind things they had to say! And a special welcome to everyone who is here for the first time as a result of the link!
For those of you who live in the Central New York area, I’d like to welcome you to become a member of the Upstate Photoshop User Group. We’re brand new and will be setting our first meeting date soon. But please, take a look at the site, and if you’d like to join us, fill out the contact form and I’ll add you to our mailing list.
My wife, Kim, and I are currently travelling to London and Paris but I have a number of posts scheduled for our time away. So please come back often and check it out!
Thanks again and I hope to see more of you soon!

As part of my ongoing project to develop my professional presence, I just received my order from PrintingForLess.com of 500 business cards. As a small business, we had been laser printing our own for years and I’d never been fully satisfied with the long-term reliability of the toner staying bonded to the card stock. So I decided that it was about time to do it right, and once I got my Adobe Certified Expert logo I began the process.
I went over to NAPP’s website to check out what discounts were available - and of course, they have a number to choose from - and found that NAPP Members save $30 on their first order. When looking for the link again in the member discount section of the newly updated site I couldn’t initially find it, but after a quick search I was directed here for details.
For 500 cards on 120# Gloss Cover with single-sided 4-color printing, the total came to on $59.90 via their standard 4-day FedEx ground. After approving the proof online I was given the option to take a half-off discount for their Gloss Aqueous coating. That, with my NAPP discount, I only spent $40 for 500 cards.
The folks over at PrintingForLess.com were prompt, thorough, and I must say the product is exactly as I had hoped. Communication was excellent with email updates throughout the process and a quick phone call to let me know that they added extra bleed to my design to make it all work for them. I ordered on the afternoon of April 24th, the proof was ready that afternoon, they shipped from Montana the next day, and I received them at the office one week later - almost to the minute as it turned out. Of course, you can pay a little bit extra for faster shipping, but I wasn’t in any real rush.
There are a lot of options out there but you will definitely get a quality product for the price at PrintingForLess.com.
Thanks to everyone over on the Eagle Team (Leo, Dawn & Patrick) for your speedy work!

That’s right folks! Adobe has just released the free public beta version of Photoshop Lightroom 2!
Friends-of-the-Blog John Nack and Terry White have write ups about it and Terry has a special episode of his top-rated Adobe Creative Suite Podcast devoted to the release. Also, the guys over at NAPP have created a Lightroom 2 Learning Center.
Check it out. I’ll write more once I’ve had a chance to review it myself.
