The Results Are In! February 2010 Photo Contest!

It’s that time again to announce the winner of our Monthly Photo Contest here at Jason D. Moore Photography! There were a lot of excellent photos entered this month and I have definitely seen some growth in the work coming from many of the regular submitters this time around. Nice work!
I have enlisted the help of the January winner, Chris Stern to help in the judging this month – as we will do from here on out with the winner serving as guest judge for the following month. Thank you Chris!

Points of View Photo Project #26
Welcome to the 26th edition of the Points of View Photo Project here at Jason D. Moore Photography!
This week’s source image came from regular contributor, Henrik Demey from Belgium. About the photo, he writes:
“This picture was taken during a city trip to Prague, Czechia. It shows the central interior of the Saint Nicholas Church, on the Old Town Square. This baroque church dates from 1735.”
Thanks for sharing your shot with us, Hendrik! If any of you would like to share one of your shots with us to use as our source image in an upcoming week, please send it to me at pov@jasondmoore.com and you may see it in the next few weeks.
And now, onto this week’s contributions!
Reminders and Such
As the week and month progresses I figured it would be a good time to pass on a few reminders for how you can take part in the goings on here at Jason D. Moore Photography.
Points of View Photo Project #24
Welcome to the 24th edition of the Points of View Photo Project here at Jason D. Moore Photography!
UPDATE: New deadline for submitting your version of the image for week #25!
Each week readers from all over the world tackle a common source image and display it to show the many interpretations, perspectives, and approaches that can be taken from the same starting point. I always fins it interesting how a single image can be manipulated and processed to express such different feelings and emotions.
If you are new to the project, or if you’ve been following along regularly and would like to participate, be sure to scroll to click on “More…” and scroll down to the bottom to download the source image for next week and learn how to submit.
But now, on with this week’s images!
Points of View Photo Project: #23
Welcome to our 23rd edition of the Points of View Photo Project here at Jason D. Moore Photography!
We saw a really good showing this week with 5 participants in the project! Thank you all so much! I think we have a great mixture of interpretations this time around that I’m sure you will enjoy. I particularly appreciate it when someone really makes it their own and does something special with it – be it a nice processing treatment or an outside-the-box edit job.
Before we get too much farther I’d like to, once again, extend an invitation to you to share your out-of-the-camera original images to serve as our starting point in an upcoming week. Read on down to the bottom of the post for more info and where to send it.
And now, on to the images!

Monday Blog News
I thought I would start off the week with a few invitations and updates to help everyone get more involved here at Jason D. Moore Photography.
Points of View Photo Project: #21
Welcome to the 21st week of the Points of View Photo Project here at Jason D. Moore Photography!
For those of you new to the project, each week I post a source image that is straight out of the camera that readers are free to download and manipulate however they please (as long has it is used for the sole purpose of this project) and then send it back to me for posting here. The goal is to share the many different interpretations – or points of view – that can be applied to a common source image.
This week, we have 3 different takes on the original coming from myself and a couple of our regulars, Andy and Hendrik. If you would like to participate, click on the “more” link below and find out how you can take part in our special, reader-submitted HDR Points of View Project.

Points of View Photo Project: #19
Welcome to the 19th edition of the weekly Points of View Photo Project!
Each week I post a source image that is the out-of-the-camera original and offer it up for anyone who would like to take a shot at processing it. This isn’t a contest, this isn’t about who is better, it’s simply a chance to experiment and have fun.
When everyone is complete, they send me their versions and I post a gallery to share the many perspectives with which a single image might be seen. Take a look at the Points of View Photo Gallery for this week!
If you would like to share a photo you took for us to use as our source image, please send it along to pov@asondmoore.com and we’ll use it in an upcoming week!

Last Chance for This Week’s Points of View!
Now that I’m back to my regular daily blogging, tomorrow will be our next installment in the Points of View Photo Project.
If you’re new to the Points of View Project, the main purpose is to serve as a creative exercise where multiple people take a common photo they’ve never seen before and experiment with it to something unique. (more…)

So, They Think I Can Teach Photoshop!
That’s right! I received official word that I was selected as one of the Honorable Mention winners in the NAPP So, You Think You Can Teach Photoshop?! contest! And I would I like to take this opportunity to thank the judges for this honor and opportunity.
Though it would’ve been awesome to claim the top slot and have the opportunity to teach a live session at Photoshop World in March as well as on their podcasts, I am truly humbled that I am ranked along with some other very talented Photoshop instructors. (more…)
September Photo Contest Reminder
That’s right, September is quickly coming to a close and, along with it, so is my September Photo Contest!
I’ve already received 25 entries into this months contest but there is still time for you to submit your shots! The winner of this particular monthly photo contest will have their choice of either a Women’s Light T-Shirt, Light T-Shirt, Ringer T, Women’s T-Shirt, or White T-Shirt OR your choice of a stein, mug, large mug, or tote bag from my official Jason D. Moore Photography Apparel Store.
To enter, simply submit up to 3 photos to our Photo Contest Flickr Group by midnight (Eastern) on Wednesday September 30th.
If you’re not entering the contest but would still like to sport your very own Jason D. Moore Photography tee or drink your morning coffee out of an official Jason D. Moore Photography mug, stop on over to the store and get yours today!
Also, I received a sample in the mail the other day of what will be a prize for one of our upcoming contests, perhaps next month. I don’t want to give it away but it is something I had never really thought of before but have since seen similar concepts popping up all over. It’s very unique and the results are fantastic! A huge thanks to one of my readers, Troy B., for sharing this idea with me and donating the prize!
More on that one later. For now, enter the September Photo Contest!
September Photo Contest
Please forgive the lack of a contest in August. With all of the excitement surrounding the BIG Photo Contest and the cool prize from Mpix for the July Photo Contest, I thought it made sense to take the month off.
Now that the month has begun, I’d like to open up the September Photo Contest! Complete details, as always, can be found on our Photo Contests page and entries may be submitted in the September Photo Contest Flickr Group.
The winner this month will receive something from the Jason D. Moore Photography Apparel Store. The winner will have their choice of one of the following Jason D. Moore Photography Logo items:
- Women’s Light T-Shirt
- Light T-Shirt
- Ringer T
- Women’s T-Shirt
- White T-Shirt
- stein
- mug
- large mug
- or tote bag
Good Luck!
Jason D. Moore Photography Logo Apparel
Fear not, the results for the photo contests are coming soon and I’m having a great time reviewing all of the excellent submissions!
I’d like to announce today that I have opened a Cafe Press store featuring a wide range of Jason D. Moore Photography logo apparel & gifts. There is a variety of items available – including a wide selection of t-shirts, sweatshirts, mugs, magnets & stickers, and a tote bag – and there’s something for every price range and style.
Show your support for the blog and shop today!
If you purchase anything from the store, be sure to send in a photo of you wearing/using your shirt/mug/tote/etc. and I’ll post it here on the site. So, shop now!
Also, as a side note – and totally unrelated to this – I have decided to discontinue the “On the 4th” Photo Project. It hasn’t caught on as much as we all would have hoped. A huge thank you and “nice job” to everyone who has participated over the past few months! I’d like to encourage you – and everyone out there – to join us in the Points of View Photo Project with the next edition coming up next week!
Points of View Project: #8
Welcome to the eighth edition of the “Points of View Project“!
Every other Friday I will post a new, out-of-the-camera image for you to download. You may process, manipulate, composite, experiment, or otherwise alter the photo in any way you wish. The hope is that we will get to see a number of different takes on the same image and/or see it used in unique ways as a part of a new image.
This is not a contest or competition. It’s simply a way of stretching our creative muscles and to get those juices flowing through experimentation and seeing how many different interpretations can be applied to the same starting photo.
Check out our Points of View Gallery showing this week’s source image and how it has been seen from our contributors’ different points of view.
Thank you to everyone who contributed this week!
I usually place the next week’s image here but with the Worldwide Photowalk tomorrow I thought I would wait to have a fresh source image until after the walk.
Once you have worked with the image as much as you feel it needs, simply email it back to me at pov@jasondmoore.com by Wednesday July 29th for inclusion in the project. Please be sure to include your name, location, and website/blog URL so I may properly credit you.
If you would like to send in a photo – unprocessed, straight out of the camera – for us to use as our starting image for a future week, please send me an email to the same address listed above.

On the 4th: June 2009

Welcome to another installment of the “On the 4th” monthly photo project hosted by Jason D. Moore Photography (brought to you in part by User 40.0).
The purpose of this project is to compile a collection of images taken on the 4th of each month providing a unique perspective of the similarities and differences of our unique and varied experiences on a given day throughout the year from our scattered locations around the country and across the globe.
This month we feature shots from 3 different countries including Belgium, Spain and the USA giving us a glimpse of life “On the 4th” around our world.
View the gallery of photos taken on the 4th of June.
The project will only get more interesting and more comprehensive with more contributors. If you took a photo this past Saturday, the 4th, send it to me by the 20th for inclusion in this new and exciting project!
Thank you to all of those who have already submitted images and I hope to see even more next time!
Enjoy!

New Sponsor: User 40.0
With the first posting of “On the 4th” coming up next week, I am proud to announce that the project is now sponsored in part by Marc Benton of the blog User 40.0! And I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Marc and to say how excited I am for this new partnership!
Marc is a web developer who is working to share his own education in digital photography as it happens with others who are new to the medium so that they too may learn how to be better photographers and become more adept with the growing and more complex modes of communicating in a digital age.
Community has always been a main focus of this blog and I am always excited to see other photographers that are out there to share their knowledge and experience so selflessly.
So please leave a comment of welcome to Marc and head over to User 40.0 to see what he is all about! And make sure you are here next Tuesday to see the first collection of photos to be featured as a part of the “On the 4th” monthly photo project!
