January 2010 Photo Contest Announcement
That’s right! With the new year comes a new Photo Contest for you all!
For anyone new to the contests, basically all you have to do is head over to our January 2010 Photo Contest Flickr Group and submit up to 3 of your photos. At the beginning of February, I will select the winner.
So take the new camera you got for Christmas out of its box, install your brand new copy of Lightroom, process it using your new Photoshop plugins, and send in your shots today for your chance to win!
Monday News
Well here we are, the last Monday of the year. I’m looking forward to the coming year and would like to get some input from you about what you’d like to see more of from the blog.
After the jump you’ll find some ideas of what we did in 2009 (both successfully and not so much) and some things that are already in the works for 2010 to get your mind working. So please, let me know!
Competico’s Winter Holiday Photo Contest
One of my past sponsors, Competico.com, recently contacted me about a pretty huge photo contest they are running between now and the 12th of January. For those of you not familiar, Competico is an online photo contest site that offers cash prizes for submissions to their regular on-going series of photo contests.
Their Winter Holiday Photo Contest 2009 is billed as their biggest contest of the year with the winners receiving a share of up to $50,000! And they have been so gracious as to invite me to be a member of their judging panel for the contest. Read on to find out more…. (more…)
November Photo Contest Reminder
That’s right! We’re already over halfway through the month and the November Photo Contest only has a couple of weeks left!
Regulars will know that there is usually no theme for my monthly photo contests but this month I thought it would be fun to see what you could do with your camera phones (thanks to a suggestion from my friend, Illustrator Eric Maruscak). You can process the photos as much as you like, as always, but it should originate from a phone. (more…)
An Invitation
I have been blessed by the longevity I’ve had so far with my writing online (over 7 years and nearly 1,100 posts). It hasn’t always been easy coming up with new and interesting things to say but with the encouragement, support, and participation of my readers I have been lucky enough to continue on down this exciting road.
Whether it’s through comments, submissions to my various projects or contests, or sponsorship it is because of all of you that this blog has grown into the Photoshop & Photography Community that it is. And I couldn’t have done it without you!
As my regular readers know, I am always striving to pay forward the knowledge and opportunities I have received by giving my readers a forum to show their work, connect with experts in the field to share their insights, review photos, software and books, and provide training, all in an effort to help you grow in your own work and become a better photographer, Photoshop user, and a more creative person.
If you’ve been coming here for news, information, and inspiration, for any length of time, I’d like to invite you take the next step to help make this site even better. First off, I’d like to ask you to share it with others you know who might be interested in what we offer. Put up a link, write a post, send out an email talking about what you’ve gotten out of this blog. The more people we have here, the more the community will be enriched.
I’d also like to invite you to leave comments or send me emails about what you think about a post, any Photoshop or photography questions you might have, ideas, whatever! I always love hearing from all of you, and I assure you that I read every comment and email that comes through. Let me know what you think!
Participate. Send in a shot for the Points of View project. Submit a photo to be reviewed. Enter my monthly photo contests. I invite you to take a more active role here on the blog. Have something you’ve created that you’d like to share with a wider audience? Write up your workflow and send it in! Have some thoughts about a certain topic, program, or service? Put together an article and email me! I am always welcoming of guest bloggers with interesting perspectives to offer.
Finally, I would like to invite all of you to consider sponsoring this blog in some way. Whether it’s a small donation to the site, a prize for an upcoming contest, a sponsorship for a particular series, or a general blog sponsorship with a leaderboard, sidebar, or a footer ad on every post – whatever you feel comfortable doing – I would like to ask for your help as I continue to bring quality content each and every day. Through a sponsorship you will also be putting your site, brand, or product in front of thousands of visitors every month. To find out more about sponsorship opportunities and to contact me directly, please check our my sponsors page.
As I work to turn my passion into my profession and share the joy of Photoshop & Photography with a larger and larger audience of creative people, please think about how you can help enrich our community with your support through one more of the avenues I mentioned above.
Thank You!
September Photo Contest
Please forgive the lack of a contest in August. With all of the excitement surrounding the BIG Photo Contest and the cool prize from Mpix for the July Photo Contest, I thought it made sense to take the month off.
Now that the month has begun, I’d like to open up the September Photo Contest! Complete details, as always, can be found on our Photo Contests page and entries may be submitted in the September Photo Contest Flickr Group.
The winner this month will receive something from the Jason D. Moore Photography Apparel Store. The winner will have their choice of one of the following Jason D. Moore Photography Logo items:
- Women’s Light T-Shirt
- Light T-Shirt
- Ringer T
- Women’s T-Shirt
- White T-Shirt
- stein
- mug
- large mug
- or tote bag
Good Luck!
Jason D. Moore Photography Logo Apparel
Fear not, the results for the photo contests are coming soon and I’m having a great time reviewing all of the excellent submissions!
I’d like to announce today that I have opened a Cafe Press store featuring a wide range of Jason D. Moore Photography logo apparel & gifts. There is a variety of items available – including a wide selection of t-shirts, sweatshirts, mugs, magnets & stickers, and a tote bag – and there’s something for every price range and style.
Show your support for the blog and shop today!
If you purchase anything from the store, be sure to send in a photo of you wearing/using your shirt/mug/tote/etc. and I’ll post it here on the site. So, shop now!
Also, as a side note – and totally unrelated to this – I have decided to discontinue the “On the 4th” Photo Project. It hasn’t caught on as much as we all would have hoped. A huge thank you and “nice job” to everyone who has participated over the past few months! I’d like to encourage you – and everyone out there – to join us in the Points of View Photo Project with the next edition coming up next week!
Home Stretch for Photo Contests
We’re coming up on the home stretch for two Photo Contests ending this month. First, the July Photo Contest is well under way with a pretty awesome prize in the form of a 16″x24″ gallery wrap, generously donated by our friends over at Mpix – a $100 value! Thanks guys!
Next, and even more exciting, is the BIG Photo Contest, now in its final weeks. Celebrating my upcoming 1,000th post you are invited to submit a collection of 5 photos, each fitting into one of five categories, to be judged as a series for a chance at over $1,000 in prizes from our sponsors.
Both of these photography contests are timed quite nicely to end after you have a chance to participate in the Worldwide Photowalk on the 18th. That way you will be able to really get out there and shoot before submitting your images for either or both of the contests. Full details can be found on our photo contest page.
And, while I’m at it, speaking of the photowalk there is still room in the Cazenovia Photowalk that I will be leading. So, if you are in Upstate NY and have yet to sign up, please join us for a fun afternoon of photography.
Good Luck!
