New Page Added: Kudos
Not trying to blow my own horn, or anything, but I compiled a number of quotes that some of my fellow bloggers and fans have had to say about my work here on the blog and about my photography as well.
You can check out what they have to say over on a new page called “Photo Quotes” in my “About” section. It is, by no means, a complete listing and I’m sure I’ll add to it as we go.
Thank you to everyone who has shared such amazing words of encouragement and support over the years! I truly appreciate it and it keeps me going – especially when I fall into a rut that I don’t think I can get out of.
The Results Are In! February 2010 Photo Contest!

It’s that time again to announce the winner of our Monthly Photo Contest here at Jason D. Moore Photography! There were a lot of excellent photos entered this month and I have definitely seen some growth in the work coming from many of the regular submitters this time around. Nice work!
I have enlisted the help of the January winner, Chris Stern to help in the judging this month – as we will do from here on out with the winner serving as guest judge for the following month. Thank you Chris!
Don’t forget to scroll all the way down to the bottom of the post to see what’s in store for the March Photo Contest!
And so, the winner of the Canvas Gallery Wrap from IGT America is…
I’ve Been Invited!
In case you missed it, last week over on Friend-of-the-Blog Scott Kelby’s site he announced that Adobe has graciously allowed NAPP to invite a select number of their members to be private Beta testers of the next version of Photoshop.
The Results Are In! January 2010 Photo Contest

Welcome back to another edition of our Monthly Photo Contest!
What a tremendous selection of photos for last month’s contest! I couldn’t believe how many excellent shots I had to choose from. You guys are making me really work for it! Thank you!
I have selected a winner, but I don’t think I’ve ever had so many honorable mentions (11) in one month. There are just so many terrific shots, you are all great!
Also, remember to scroll down to the bottom of the post to find out more about the next contest!
And now, without further ado, the winner of the January Photo Contest and a copy of Scott Kelby and Terry White’s The iPhone Book is…
January 2010 Photo Contest Reminder
That’s right, we are now in the final days of the January 2010 Photo Contest. It’s hard to believe that the first month of 2010 is almost over already and with it comes the end of our latest monthly photo contest.
Bringing Some Work Home
As some of you may know, by day I am a web designer for a sporting goods company putting together marketing emails, maintaining the look and feel of the website, and keeping an eye on the SEO initiatives we have going.
Coming up later this week we are launching a new sport line. We are mainly a wrestling and volleyball supply retailer, with some running, but we’re jumping into the realm of field sports (lacrosse, field hockey, and soccer) and it has been my job to compile product images, build pages and make sure the whole section is ready to go.
The Ethics of Digital Photography: Part 3
Today’s edition of our miniseries looking into questions of what is and what is not “ok” when it comes to our work as creative professionals steers us towards the more conceptual side of the discussion. What are the limits of using the creative ideas of others in your own work?
January 2010 Photo Contest Announcement
That’s right! With the new year comes a new Photo Contest for you all!
For anyone new to the contests, basically all you have to do is head over to our January 2010 Photo Contest Flickr Group and submit up to 3 of your photos. At the beginning of February, I will select the winner.
So take the new camera you got for Christmas out of its box, install your brand new copy of Lightroom, process it using your new Photoshop plugins, and send in your shots today for your chance to win!
Special Thanks to You All!
For my final post of the year, I’d like to take a moment to express my deepest thanks to some really great people who have made 2009 such an awesome year here at Jason D. Moore Photography.
The Results Are In: December 2009 Photo Contest!

As the year comes to a close, so does another one of my Monthly Photo Contests. Before announcing the winner for the December Photo Contest, I’d like to take a moment to thank all of our contest sponsors over the past year including Westcott, Scott Kelby, Mpix, IGT America, onOne, Unified Color, Photoshop Cafe, What the Duck? and Kelby Training. Thank you for all of your generous support and for working with me to encourage our fellow photographers to grow with every shot.
I’d also like to thank everyone who has entered my contests this year. Whether you won a prize or not, I want you to know that I saw artistry in each and every shot and you are all more than capable of doing great things behind the lens. Keep it up!
And now, for our winner…
Special Weekend Edition
So much has been going on this week that I just haven’t had time to fit everything into my posts over the last few days. So, to carry you through the weekend – as though you didn’t have enough to do with the holiday season in full swing – I thought I’d throw up a bonus post with few things that have either come up or have fallen through the cracks.
After the jump, you’ll learn more about a fun new item from Scott Kelby, the next source image for the Points of View Photo Project, and more! (more…)
The Results Are In: November Camera Phone Photo Contest!

It’s that time once again when we celebrate the members of our digital photography community who have shared their photos as part of our monthly photo contest.
This month, I decided to do something a little different based on a suggestion from my friend, illustrator Eric Maruscak, and see what kind of entries we would get of shots taken with a camera phone. Unless you’re someone like Chase Jarvis, it can be a little tough to come up with a decent shot from your phone. That being said, though, each and every one of the entries into the November Photo Contest really stands up and takes a step beyond a typical camera phone snapshot.
Book Review: Scott Kelby’s Digital Photography Book, Volume 3
![]()
A couple of weeks ago I finally received my copy of Scott Kelby’s The Digital Photography Book, Volume 3 which I was given for being a Worldwide Photowalk leader again this past summer.
Just as with the previous installments in this series (reviews for The Digital Photography Book and The Digital Photography Book Volume 2) we readers are allowed into the inner sanctum ofpro photography with the help of our enlightened guide, Scott Kelby.
Scott picks right up where Volume 2 ended taking us along on a variety of shooting situations – both in the studio and out in the field – to share some trade secrets and offer some insights into how to use our tools to make great images. (more…)
No-Blog Monday
I’ll be back tomorrow, hopefully, with a review of Scott Kelby’s The Digital Photography Book, Volume 3.
The Results Are In: October Photo Contest!
It’s that time once again to announce the winner of the latest Monthly Photo Contest!
As it is every month, I am both excited at the number of entries and daunted by the many excellent images submitted. I am also pretty stoked by this month’s prize. The lucky winner is going to be receiving one of their images sublimated on a 16″x20″ piece of metal from our friends over at IGT America. I have one, myself, and it is not only an amazing process, it is also a very unique way of presenting your work.
So, without further ado, the winner of the sublimated photo print is: (more…)

As always, when you download this photo for the project, you can process, manipulate, or otherwise alter it in any way you wish. Just send your final image to me at pov@jasondmoore.com by Wednesday the 29th so I can include it in the gallery.
Good luck with it and I’m looking forward to seeing your interpretations!

New Online Magazine: Creative Studio (CAFE)
I was looking through my latest email CAFE Cup news from PhotoshopCAFE and noticed that Colin just launched the first issue of his new online magazine, Creative Studio (CAFE).
For this inaugural issue, Colin has assembled an awesome group of experts to talk about what’s new in CS4. It’s more than just a listing of new features, they go in-depth to really show how some of the newest features work and how they will help you improve your workflow.
In other news, I was reading Scott’s post the other day about AllTop.com and how they are now letting you create your own page of RSS feeds. Scott links us to his page to see the blogs that he checks up on every day and I was pleasantly surprised to see that I am on his list! Very cool!
And speaking of Scott, I was reading the blog of my buddy Rob Jones of Towner Jones Photography and he recently posted about the judges for the “On Assignment” contest. I was asked to be on the panel of judges but when I saw that the other members were Scott and Photowalker Extraordinaire Jeff Revell, I was humbled.
I never want to sell myself short but I am always amazed when movers and shakers in the digital photography community take notice of what I’m doing here in my little corner of the web or when others count me among those same individuals whom I hold in such high esteem.
So, thank you Scott! And thank you Rob! for such honors.
Post #950! And the BIG Photo Contest!
I like to celebrate even the small milestones in life. And so it is today with my 950th blog post. I never want to forget all of the readers out there and those who have taken the time to comment and contribute to the life of the blog over the years. And a very special thank you to everyone who has been such a huge support by linking back, talking me up, sponsoring, guest posting, participating in projects, and just being great Friends-of-the-Blog. It really means a lot and you all have helped make this little corner of the web what it is, whatever role you play.
Thank You!
950 is a nice round number, and certainly a laudable goal in its own right, but it means that the next big milestone is a really big one. One that can’t be passed by with a casual mention on a single day. So, it’s not going to be…

I am excited to announce today that between now and July 31st I am putting out a call for entries into my Biggest Photo Contest yet!
