January 2010 Photo Contest Announcement
That’s right! With the new year comes a new Photo Contest for you all!
For anyone new to the contests, basically all you have to do is head over to our January 2010 Photo Contest Flickr Group and submit up to 3 of your photos. At the beginning of February, I will select the winner.
So take the new camera you got for Christmas out of its box, install your brand new copy of Lightroom, process it using your new Photoshop plugins, and send in your shots today for your chance to win!

As the year comes to a close, so does another one of my Monthly Photo Contests. The Results Are In: November Camera Phone Photo Contest!
It’s that time once again when we celebrate the members of our digital photography community who have shared their photos as part of our monthly photo contest.
This month, I decided to do something a little different based on a suggestion from my friend, illustrator Eric Maruscak, and see what kind of entries we would get of shots taken with a camera phone. Unless you’re someone like Chase Jarvis, it can be a little tough to come up with a decent shot from your phone. That being said, though, each and every one of the entries into the November Photo Contest really stands up and takes a step beyond a typical camera phone snapshot.

It’s that time once again to announce the winner of the latest Monthly Photo Contest!
As it is every month, I am both excited at the number of entries and daunted by the many excellent images submitted. I am also pretty stoked by this month’s prize. The lucky winner is going to be receiving one of their images sublimated on a 16″x20″ piece of metal from our friends over at IGT America. I have one, myself, and it is not only an amazing process, it is also a very unique way of presenting your work.

So You Think You Can Teach Photoshop?!
Yes I do!
I came across a tweet the other day from @NAPP_News about a new contest running through the end of October seeking video entries all about Photoshop tutorials. I don’t really enter a lot of contests but I just couldn’t pass this one up.
As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, I am hoping to get back into the routine of producing video tutorials and this contest seems like a perfect opportunity to get started once again. I can enter up to 3 videos, to their specs, for a chance to win a healthy prize package. There’s some subscriptions and memberships in there but what really makes me want to enter is the opportunities that come along with winning. The winner will be sent to Photoshop World (ticket, flight, and hotel) where you will be given an instructors chair to teach at one of the sessions. The winner will also get a guest spot on Photoshop User TV, Layers TV, visibility in Photoshop User Magazine, PlanetPhotoshop.com and to the entire NAPP community. The exposure alone could be huge!
I’ve been through all of my Photoshop tutorial videos and I’ve decided to start from scratch for my entries. I now have some really nice audio equipment that I didn’t have before which will make a big difference.
At this point, I just have to figure out what to do the videos on. I’ve got a couple of ideas but I’m open to your suggestions. I don’t know how I’ll do in the contest – I know there are some great teachers out there – but I’m going to give it my all and hope for the best!
Contest Reminders – The End Is Near!
Now that everyone is busy processing their photos from last weekend’s Worldwide Photowalk with hopes of winning their local walk’s prize and a shot at the grand prize, I’d like to take this opportunity to invite you to put forward those great shots for a chance to win more great prizes!
First, you can send in your shots for my regular monthly photo contest. Open to anyone, you can enter up to 3 images in the July Photo Contest Flickr Group by the end of the month. At the close of the contest I will select what I consider to be the best photo of the group and the winner will receive a free 16″x24″ gallery wrap from Mpix.
Secondly, there’s only a short time left to enter your series of shots into my 1,000th Post BIG Photo Contest. Once again, the deadline for submissions is July 31st with the winner announced on my 1,000th post in a couple of weeks. The winner will win a prize package worth over $1,000!
